You need to take the COVID-19 swab test if you are feeling any of the following symptoms:
- Shortness of breath
- Sore throat
- Runny nose
- Muscle pain
- Loss of smell
- Loss of taste
Before taking the test you should self-isolate for 5 days, which is the incubation period. Swab tests are done at testing centres only by appointment and are done at no cost (free). The operators will take note of your personal details and you will be given an appointment to undergo this test closest to your place of residence.

Do not use any public transport, taxis, or car-sharing. The testing centre will provide transport for you. If you need the testing centre to make transport arrangements for you, please inform them when you book your test.
It is important that from the moment you suspect that you might have COVID-19, book your test and take the test, that you self-isolate. If no COVID-19 is detected you are required to self-isolate for a further 24 hours. If you do have COVID-19 then you must remain in mandatory quarantine and follow the instructions of the Public Health Authority. You must remain indoors and avoid contact with other people.
You will receive your test results either by email, SMS or telephone call within 72 hours after the test. If after 72 hours you have not received your test result, then you must send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or call on 111.
